Due to unforseen circumstances with UIHC ETC and DPS, Aircare Ground Crew Training will be cancelled this week. We are working with UIHC and DPS to reschedule the event and we will keep you posted when we find a date that works.
What would you do if you saw someone get hit by a bus? Recently a University of Iowa student was hit by a Cambus and ended up in critical care. How would you respond if you were a witness to this accident? Go to the UIEMSSIO discussion and let us know.
If you were not able to register for the last trainings, no worries, we are planning several more throughout the year. There are several coming up in October, so be sure to register for those before they fill up.
The next General Members meeting will be Wednesday, October 5th at 6:30pm in the Ohio State Room (343) of the IMU. Dr. Azeem Ahmed will be speaking to the group about his career and how he got to where he is today. Dr. Ahmed was once a firefighter/EMT. Now he is the Medical Director of Aircare and a physician in the Emergency Treatment Center in the ER at UIHC. He is also in the Medical School Admissions Community. So please come with questions for him, including anything about med school. Please register for the event so we can decide if we need a bigger room.
ETC shadowing dates open four weeks in advance and close two weeks in advance. This is why you are not able to register for them yet for those of you who have tried.
UIEMS supervisors are currently working on setting up shadowing with the Iowa City Fire Department! We will let you know more later.
For the few members who have not yet paid dues, you can bring them to a supervisor during office hours. The office hours are held in the Student Organization Office on the 2nd floor of the IMU and times are listed on our website's calendar. Do not go to the Department of Public Safety (UI Police) to pay dues or ask questions. They do not have the resources to take the money or answer your questions about our group.
