About Us

The The University of Iowa Emergency Medical Services Student Interest Organization was conceived in August 2009 and is still in the process of building itself into a respected, functional, and contributing member of the University of Iowa and Iowa City Community.journey-unknown

The University of Iowa Emergency Medical Services Student Interest Organization wants to give back and make the community a safer place. By helping implement the Red Watch Band program, The University of Iowa Emergency Medical Services Student Interest Organization members will teach University Students and officials how to properly deal with alcohol related emergencies on campus. We support alternatives to drinking, but when it comes down to it, it’s important to realize the reality of college binge drinking and try to prepare people to effectively manage and help in binge drinking emergencies.

The University of Iowa Emergency Medical Services Student Interest Organization intendeds to help its members expand their knowledge and gain new skills, but also wants to expand the University’s preparedness as well. By offering CPR/First Aid/AED classes to the public, and by helping in disaster preparedness, we hope to increase the overall safety at the University. Our members have a unique and exclusive opportunity to be a part of the Dept of Public Safety's Campus Emergency Response Team and be a part of the campus emergency response framework. Our members have the opportunities to network with and learn from EMS professionals all over the country.

We hope you’re as interested in EMS as we are and look forward to you getting involved in our organization!
