Continuous Quality Improvement and Compliance

Continuous Quality Improvement, or CQI, is a peer-based process that conducts a clinical review of processes. Based on strict confidentiality and a shared commitment to excellent prehospital care, CQI reveals potential areas for improvement of the EMS System, suggests training opportunities, highlights outstanding clinical performance, audits compliance with treatment protocols, and reviews specific illnesses or injuries along with their associated treatments. These efforts contribute to the continued success of the emergency medical services through a systematic process of review, analysis and improvement.

The University of Iowa Emergency Medical Sevices Student Interest Organization practices CQI processes through our own Compliance Department. The UI EMS SIO Compliance Director is responsible for evaluating processes within UI EMS SIO and determining the best practices for improving the services we offer to our members.

The Compliance Director is responsible for collecting evaluations of UI EMS SIO trainings and events and helping to review areas of improvement. The Compliance Dept is also responsible for enforcing the UI EMS SIO Standard Operating Guidelines as they apply to the Members and Supervisors of our Organization.

You may report concerns or violations to the Compliance Director via the form below. You may choose to keep the submission anonymous by omitting your email address.
